Katie helps with the laundry"Some people fly to Morocco, some people go to Quebec..." My dad wrote a song called "Thomas the Toad" and this is a line from it. Thomas doesn't go to these fancy places, he hops off to his favorite pond, and sits on his favorite rock. It is spring break, but we did not go anywhere fancy, just hung around home and did some things that we never seem to have time for normally. We cleaned a little, did some yard work, and just enjoyed not having anything pressing on us.
My mom and my brother, Chris, came down on Thursday night to visit us for a few days. On Friday we took Katie to the zoo for the first time. We didn't know if she would pay attention to any of the animals or not, but she surprised us by being really interested in them. Her favorite thing (as far as we could tell) was the monkeys. They have an exhibit at the Phoenix Zoo where you can walk right into a squirrel monkey enclosure and they jump and scamper up ropes right next to you. Katie just giggled and cooed at all these monkeys climbing around her. It was really cute.
On Saturday we drove down to Tucson. Chris served his mission there, and he wanted to show us around and show us some of his places and people. We ate lunch at a famous restaurant, El Charro Cafe. The food was good, but Katie was fascinated by all the people there. She kept twisting and turning in her highchair, trying to see what everyone was doing. She also seemed to enjoy the food, especially Grandma's tamale.
Andy has two more days of vacation left, so we are planning some shopping (my favorite) and some wakeboarding (Andy's favorite). A fun, but mostly uneventful, spring break.
